Enchanted Lion Books is an award-winning independent publisher of children’s picture books and of illustrated books for readers of all ages, many in translation. We publish books that we’re passionate about, certain of our responsibility as an independent to advance the conversation through books of cultural importance, regardless of market trends: books that will help to change lives, whether within a classroom, library, homeless shelter, or by a bedside table.

Given our firmly held belief that children’s books spur the imagination, nourishing a sense of hope and the disposition to act with greater thoughtfulness in the world, we are committed to bringing our books, authors and illustrators to all children, meaning also into communities that can’t afford author visits or the cultivation of rich library collections. Your support of our mission to tell diverse stories in a nuanced manner and to share our books as widely as possible is crucial at this time of reduced school and library budgets and of widespread discounting practices that have devalued books both culturally and as beautiful material objects.
